Our team consists of experts in health, behavior change, complete project management, marketing, reporting metrics and other key areas. Collectively our executive team has over one hundred years of experience in wellness.
Dave Pickering - Founder/Chief Executive Officer
Dave founded the International Fitness Club Network (IFCN), a Rhode Island based corporation, in 1991 and expanded its services as Preventure, growing to be one of the world’s leading and award winning providers of innovative health management, wellness and fitness solutions. For the past 28 years, Dave has been a pioneer in working with corporations, health insurers and the health and fitness industry to leverage the compelling economic and physical benefits of regular exercise and healthy lifestyle behaviors. Dave was recently honored in July of 2008 by URAC (Utilization Review Accreditation Commission) as he was invited and participated on the URAC Wellness Accreditation Advisory Board to develop the measures and standards by which Wellness Companies will be credentialed in the United States. He is also a founding member of the Medical Wellness Association along with Founder and Chairperson of the IHRSA Health Care Taskforce. Dave speaks at corporations and conferences in San Francisco, Paris, Beijing, and around the world on the subject of wellness and health improvement. As a United States Coast Guard Captain he is passionate about sailing and power boating and cruises throughout New England waters and around the world. He resides in Warwick, RI with his wife Leann and two golden retrievers.
Mark D. Correia – Partner/Chief Operating Officer
Mark came on-board to Preventure in January 2003 after a 20-year career with Healthtrax International Inc., a leading provider of fitness, wellness and work-site health care services. As the Sr. Vice President of Business Health Services with Healthtrax, he was responsible for developing and executing the strategic business initiatives for the Work-Fit and Employee Wellness Divisions. Under Mark’s leadership, the Business Health Division provided preventive health care services to over 400 corporations nationwide. During Mark’s tenure, Healthtrax received the International Health Racquet & Sportsclubs Association’s Employee Wellness Program of the Year Award which recognizes innovative preventive health care services for corporations, as well as, the Hartford, CT Chamber of Commerce Pride Award, recognizing community outreach, innovation, quality, flexibility, employee involvement and customer satisfaction. Today he remains on the Healthtrax Board of Advisors. Mark brings this wealth of experience to Preventure as he oversees business strategy development, client accounts, finance, and other key business functions. Mark is a lifelong athlete- he played football and baseball for the University of Connecticut and brings his passion for wellness with him as he coaches the Bacon Academy Women’s Softball team. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education/Sports Marketing from the University of Connecticut and resides in Colchester, CT with his wife Joyce and two daughters Kerry and Jamie.
Kathy O’Neel-Webster – Vice President, Operations
Kathy joined the Preventure team in 2007 after spending more than 20 years as co-owner of a fitness and wellness consulting and management company. In her past role she was responsible for Strategic Planning, Organizational Design & Development, Finance & Budgeting, New Business Development and Multi-Site Operations. She has extensive experience in leveraging corporate partnerships and working collaboratively to provide a cost-effective, forward thinking approach to improve the overall health of employees. Kathy ensures metrics-driven operational excellence and evidence based programming to reduce medical claims costs associated with poor lifestyle habits and manageable health risk factors, as demonstrated by a retroactive claims analysis of one client realizing an annual cost savings of $501 for program participants. Kathy designed integrated, award winning health enhancement programs for numerous companies including Fleet Bank, GTECH and Toray Plastics America. In her position as Vice President of Operations, Kathy is responsible for establishing and administering operational policies and procedures, client satisfaction, partner management, program development, and leading the Account Management team. Kathy is a member of the company’s Executive Committee, assisting with the development of overall company strategy and growth objectives. Her personal passion for exercise includes daily runs and the management of Preventure’s internal wellness initiative. Kathy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from University of New Hampshire and currently lives with her husband Locke and two daughter’s Erin and Tia in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
Laura Walmsley – Vice President, New Business Development
Laura starting working at Preventure in 2002, bringing with her career experience in business development in the employee benefits area. Previous to joining the team Laura worked for Circles, a corporate concierge company in Boston, MA. Here she cultivated relationships with Fortune 500 companies and was instrumental in growing the company by 400% during its start-up phase. At Preventure Laura is responsible for overseeing new sales, developing new product lines, improving overall market position, and assuring existing clients are retained. Laura has a passion for client service and creating long-term partnerships. She seeks to deeply understand each client’s situation and provide a true solution to improve it. During her tenure the company has been re-branded, expanded its market presence, and has consistently grown its client base to nearly 10 million lives served today. Nature and the outdoors inspire Laura to stay active – she enjoys daily walks and hikes around the woods or local beaches. Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, graduating Magna Cum Laude from James Madison University and resides with her husband Les and son Xavier in Shannock, Rhode Island.
